Holy Spirit School Girl Scouts
In celebration of Girl Scout Week, the Pequannock Township Girl Scout Council asked for a photo from each school. National Geographic Geography Bee Students in Holy Spirit School in grades 4 through 8 participated in the National Geographic Bee on December 21, 2009. Two students won each grade's geography bee moving on to the final competition. 1st Place: Michael Lennon 2nd Place: Elizabeth Vander Valk 3rd Place: Vincent Zieger, Mikayla Galletta, Kenji Demarest and Nicholas Reyna 4th Place: Lauren Mazzanna, Emily Heydt, Demoan Giunta and Samuel Sanchez. Book Club Calling All Readers! Would you like to spend some quality time reading a good book? Then join the book club! Students will have the opportunity to read books for their book reports or just discover new books they have not read yet. Book Club meetings are after school on Thursdays, every other week. Junior Leadership Program Holy Spirit school children participated in an elite nationwide week-long program in Washington DC and Boston to learn leadership skills with other children from across the United States. |

Father & Son Basketball Tournament The Class of 2010 sponsored a Father & Son Basketball Tournament on Friday, January 22, 2010 in the gym. The tournament was open to all fathers/uncles/cousins/friends and sons of 5th to 8th grade families. A good time was had by all!

Red Bulls Reaching Personal Goals (Goals for Goals Program) Students participated in a goal setting program sponsored by the professional soccer team, the New York Red Bulls. Upon completion of the program, two of the team’s players visited the school, spoke about hard work and effort, and signed autographs for each student at the end of their presentation. |

Students Record Song of Hope As part of the “9-12 School Project”, the students recorded a song that emphasizes 12 values: Honesty, Reverence, Hope, Thrift, Humility, Charity, Sincerity, Moderation, Hard Work, Courage, Personal Responsibility, and Gratitude. The 9-12 Project was created to revitalize the values and principals Americans felt after the 9-11 tragedy. The 9-12 School Project is a junior version of this program. Trep$ Marketplace TREP$ comes from the word entrepreneurs and is a 6-week after school program that teaches kids how to start and operate a small business. TREP$ earned the NJPTA Champion for Children Award. The culminating activity is a flea market-style TREP$ Marketplace in which the kids launch their businesses to the “public”, a memory-making experience. |
