The Holy Spirit School Performing Arts Program is an exceptional extracurricular activity that highlights the talents of many of our creative students. The program has been in existence for many years. Productions such as “The Wizard of Oz,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” Seussical,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” “Music Man,” “Annie,” “Peter Pan,” “Elf,” and “The Little Mermaid” have been performed.
The program is open to students in grades 3 through 8 and is run by directors who love sharing their God-given talents with the enthusiastic students. The program also could not survive without the help of our talented parent volunteers who give selflessly of their time to create costumes, help with sets and props, chaperone at rehearsals, and work wherever needed during tech week and actual productions.
The program highlights acting, singing and dancing. Students who participate meet after school for 2 to 2 ½ hours, three days per week for the months of January, February, and March. Productions usually occur at the end of March or early in April. The children enjoy their time together with their fellow students, and we become a “Performing Arts Family.” The enthusiasm is contagious, and everyone involved is excited to be a part of our awesome Holy Spirit School productions.
The 2024 production is Matilda Jr, based on Roald Dahl's Tony-award winning hit musical. Matilda Jr is the fantastical story of a precocious five-year-old prodigy with telekinesis, who faces an uncaring home and overbearing school headmistress, while befriending her maternal and supportive young teacher.
